Event Description

A little bit early for Halloween, but that's okay, because it's the school holidays!

Hurstville Lurkers is hosting a Halloween Costume Competition! Whether it's that Halloween costume from years ago, a fire fit you have sitting in your closet, or a cosplay of your favourite character, show off your costume in the Hurstville Lurkers Halloween Costume Competition [2026]! 

The costume most liked by the community wins some goodies, and everyone gets a sick achievement for participating!

• Photo submissions - from 25/09/2026 to 04/10/2026 (final day of photo submissions)

• Voting - from 05/10/2026 to 06/10/2026 (final day to get vote in)

• Tallying and winner announcements - 07/10/2026

Submission Guidelines

The basics

Submit a photograph (or multiple photos!) of you in your costume to #halloween-costume-contest. That's it! That's all you need to do.

One entry per user. One costume only (but different poses, backgrounds, are fine.)

Entry is free.

The specifics

• Participating in this event means that you agree to having your image being posted on this website.

• You may have more than one person in your photograph - but only the person who sent the post will get the prize.

• Having someone else take the photo is OK.

• Your photo must be taken during the specified time period (from 25/09/2026 to 02/10/2026).

• Editing is allowed (and encouraged!)

  • In the case of basic lighting edits, you don't need to do anything else.

  • In the case of MINOR edits (face adjustment, blur, decoration (like "filters"), etc.), you don't need to do anything else.

  • In the case of MAJOR edits (background changing, effects, etc.), you MUST attach the original image (but you may also edit the original image with the above mentioned without doing anything else).

• Your costume/photo must follow server rules - no NSFW, problematic content, etc.

• Real life photos only (No Roblox cosplays, silly!)

• You may blur your face for privacy.

• HVL reserves the right to remove any post, with or without reason.

Voting guidelines

• Votes will be counted from 03/10/2026. ⭐ reactions from all posts will be removed on that day in order to properly count votes.

• You may vote for a maximum of 3 submissions. If you vote for more than 3 uses, all your votes are forfeited. (you can vote less, tho!)

• Votes may not be done by alternate accounts.

• HVL reserves the right to not count a vote, with or without reason.

Prizes

NOTE: money is equal to giftcard credit, see the bottom of the prizes page.
Prizes are also not available immediately after winner announcements, please be patient!!! entry was free anyway i'm literally paying out of pocket for these :^)

First place - $50 + Winner achievement
Second place - $30 + Winner achievement
Third place - $15 + Winner achievement

Card codes will be sent over Discord in ||spoilered text|| (or, if you can, given in person in Hurstville)

[DGT] means these gift cards are codes only (no physical card) (doesn't change the value of your prize!!!)
[INTL] means these gift cards will work even if you don't reside in Australia.
[AU] means these gift cards WILL NOT work outside of Australia. (if a card does not have either INTL or AU, we are unsure - select them at your own risk and loss)
[HV] means that you'll have to claim your reward in Hurstville (meeting me up)

Remaining credit will not be compensated (e.g if you choose to get a $25 card after winning $30, and no $5 cards exist, the $5 is forfeited.)

There is no time limit for prize redemption (e.g if you claim a HV prize and procrastinate going to Hurstville).
